Get your hands dirty and explore the fun and versatility of handbuilding with clay! In this hands-on class, you’ll learn a variety of techniques for creating mostly functional pieces, with a little room for sculptural work too. Your instructor will demonstrate pinch pots, slab building with hard and soft slabs, slump and push molds, and coil building. Students will discover fun ways to add personality to your work through stamping, texture, surface decoration, and glazing.
Each class begins with a demonstration, followed by plenty of time to create, experiment, and receive guidance along the way. Whether you’re new to clay or looking to build on your skills, you’ll have a relaxed and welcoming space to get creative, try new techniques, and make something you’ll love!
Your class fee includes 20 lbs. of in-house clay and firing. If you find yourself wanting to make more, additional clay is available for purchase.
Your class also includes 2 additional open studio sessions, giving you extra time to practice new techniques, work on projects, and enjoy some extra time in the studio outside of class. More information about open studio hours and studio details will be provided during the first week.
